Meet Tomio Narita | Partner, San Francisco

Tomio Narita likes having the freedom to make important decisions about his own practice. Before joining Womble Bond Dickinson, Tomio owned his own boutique law firm in San Francisco. He knew Womble had resources that would benefit him and his clients. But would he lose that autonomy he cherishes in the process?

“I've had a lot of dealings with larger firms throughout my career, and I had lots of good friends in larger firms, but I'd never been on the inside of it,” he said. “So I was worried about, ‘Was I going to have to answer to someone? Was there going to be a lot of red tape?’”

But instead, Tomio said the opposite has happened. He says moving to Womble has been “liberating,” as it has allowed him to focus on his litigation and class action defense practice, rather than the million and one other things he had to do running his own firm.

“I get to do exactly what I want to do, which is work with my clients, provide them with strategies, handle big cases, and conduct trials. I get to go crazy every day practicing law, which is what I want and what my clients need.”

At the end of the day, that’s what it’s about for Tomio. The veteran courtroom litigator and co-leader of the firm’s Class Action Defense Team says joining the Womble team is the best career decision he’s ever made.

“I feel 10 feet tall at this firm,” Tomio said. “I feel like I’ve taken off on a rocket.”
