Womble Bond Dickinson Partner Preston Heard and Patent Agent Azie Aziz, Ph.D., will be speaking at RLLB (Running Legal Like a Business) 2024. The event takes place Sept. 3-6 in Las Vegas and is presented by LegalOps.com.

Heard, the leader of Womble Bond Dickinson’s Patent Prosecution & Litigation Group, will speak at a session titled, “IP Legal Spend Management: What Legal Operations Needs to Know.”

This presentation delves into the intricacies of IP legal spend management, equipping legal operations professionals with essential knowledge. Attendees will gain insights into optimizing costs, tracking expenditures, and ensuring compliance with IP-related financial processes. Attendees will learn about such topics as:

• Areas where IP spend management is different than general legal spend;
• Ways to manage IP costs; and
• Why managing IP spend more effectively leads to better results.

Dr. Aziz will moderate one panel and participate as a panelist in another, both for ADAPT:

• Changing Patent Profession + DEI Roundtable—This session moderated by Dr. Aziz will explore how the IP profession is evolving. Team ADAPT will share data and insights and facilitate a roundtable discussion on making IP more inclusive, diverse, and sustainable amidst workplace upheaval and technological disruptions.
